3. Weekdays Only: Business days excluding Saturdays and Sundays. This is particularly useful for calculating work deadlines, shipping estimates, and project timelines.

The calculation works in either direction — the start date can be before or after the end date, and the calculator always returns a positive result.

Knowing the exact number of days between two dates is essential in many situations:

• Project planning: Calculate how many working days remain before a deadline to allocate resources and set milestones. A 30-calendar-day deadline contains roughly 22 business days after accounting for weekends.
• Pregnancy tracking: Due dates are calculated as 280 days (40 weeks) from the first day of the last menstrual period. Tracking weeks and days helps monitor fetal development stages.
• Lease and contract terms: Rental agreements, loan terms, and service contracts often specify durations in days. Verifying the exact day count prevents disputes and ensures compliance.

Business Days vs. Calendar Days

Understanding the difference between business days and calendar days is critical for accurate planning. Calendar days include every day on the calendar, while business days (also called working days or weekdays) exclude Saturdays and Sundays.

For a typical month of 30 calendar days, you'll have approximately 21-23 business days depending on where weekends fall. A common rule of thumb: multiply business days by 1.4 to estimate calendar days, or multiply calendar days by 0.71 to estimate business days.

Keep in mind that this calculator does not account for public holidays, which vary by country and region. For precise business day calculations involving holidays, you'll need to factor in your specific location's holiday schedule. In the US, there are typically 10-11 federal holidays per year; in the UK, 8 bank holidays; and in Germany, 9-13 depending on the state.
