Calendar Days vs. Working Days
One of the most common points of confusion with notice periods is whether the count includes weekends and public holidays. Most employment contracts specify "calendar days," which means every day counts, including weekends and holidays. However, some contracts explicitly state "working days" or "business days," which exclude weekends and public holidays.
Always check your contract language carefully. If your contract says "30 days' notice" without qualification, it typically means 30 calendar days. If it says "30 working days," you'll need to exclude weekends and bank holidays, resulting in approximately 6 weeks of actual calendar time. This calculator uses calendar days by default.
