Box Size Guide
Different box sizes are designed for different types of items:
Small Boxes (1.5 cu ft)
Heavy items: books, tools, canned goods, CDs/DVDs. Keep weight manageable.
Medium Boxes (3 cu ft)
Most common size. Clothes, toys, pots and pans, small appliances, decorations.
Large Boxes (4.5 cu ft)
Light bulky items: pillows, linens, lampshades, stuffed toys. Don't overpack.
Tips for Packing
- Over-estimate by 10-15% - It's better to have extra boxes than to run short.
- Use small boxes for heavy items - Books, dishes, and tools should go in small boxes.
- Don't overfill large boxes - They're meant for light, bulky items only.
- Label everything - Mark room destination and contents on each box.
